Each witness needs to be present at the time of notarization and is required to possess 1 of the State of California-approved ID documents below.

Only valid and original documents are accepted

ID card or driver's license issued by the CA Dept. of Motor Vehicles

U.S. Passport

Inmate ID card issued by the CA Dept. of Correction and Rehabilitation
(Inmates in custody in prison only)

Inmate ID issued by a Sheriff's Department
(Inmate in custody in a local detention facility only)

A passport issued by a foreign government

ID card or driver's license issued by another U.S. state

Driver's license issued by an authorized Canadian or Mexican public agency only

U.S. Military ID card with
(Photograph, physical description, signature, and serial number)

Employee ID card by agency or office of the state of CA, a state of CA city or county

Mexico Consular Identification Card
(Generation 3)

ID card issued by a federally recognized tribal government with PPSS only
